Privacy information
How information moves through the Tell pilot, and where to go for help.
Updated 28 September 2026 · Pilot service
The business you call and your Tell account
A business using Tell decides how it handles its customer calls and the information it asks callers to provide. Contact that business about a particular conversation, booking or message. Tell also handles workspace account information and requests sent directly to our team.
Information used by the service
Workspace information includes names, email addresses, access roles, business details and settings. Calls can include phone numbers, conversation text, summaries, booking details and messages. Audio is stored only when recording is enabled for the business and retention permits it. Account, security and service records help operate the workspace and investigate problems.
Why information is used
Information is used to answer calls, make requested bookings, take messages, transfer callers, manage accounts and respond to support requests. Each business is responsible for explaining the purposes and legal basis that apply to its callers. The final account privacy notice will identify the operator’s legal basis for account administration, security, billing and direct enquiries.
Services involved
Calls use a telephony provider and an AI voice provider. The current pilot connects Twilio with the selected voice provider: ElevenLabs, Google Gemini or OpenAI. Account emails and online billing use the delivery and payment services configured for the workspace. These providers may process information in more than one country. Ask the team for the provider list, processing locations and applicable transfer safeguards for your agreement.
Recordings and retention
Businesses can turn recordings off and set a retention period for transcripts, summaries and stored audio. Scheduled maintenance removes expired call content. Bookings, customer messages, account records, support requests and service metadata have separate retention needs; call-content retention does not automatically delete those records. Contact the business or Tell team about access or deletion.
Cookies and local storage
Tell uses essential session and device cookies for sign-in and opted-in notifications. The public demo keeps sample edits in your browser session. The app can cache its offline page and public assets. Marketing analytics are not part of this pilot implementation.
Requests and concerns
You can ask about access, corrections, deletion and other rights that apply to your information. You can also raise an objection to processing or withdraw consent where consent applies. Use the contact form and select Privacy request; include enough information to locate the record, without sending sensitive call content.
You can raise a data protection concern with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
